Handbrake to Gamepad
Recently, I got a 3D-printed, ATTiny85-based handbrake for my PC. It works perfectly for the majority of the games I played, and is a fraction of the cost of a proper, progressive handbrake. Granted, it’s a glorified button, but it certainly is easier to use than keeping track of a button on the steering wheel while it spins, and most definitely helps with immersion.
Except… Forza Horizon 4 doesn’t seem to support it at all. It doesn’t detect any input from it, so I decided to try to emulate an Xbox 360 controller keypress. Sadly, X360CE doesn’t seem to capture my handbrake at all, so I decided to make a utility to capture and bind the handbrake button press to a keyboard button, which would then be captured by Keyboard2XinputGui.
Finally, I decided to get rid of the additional utility and made it directly control an X360 controller through the well-known ViGEm Bus Driver. I’ve now decided to release this utility to the public, in hopes that it will be useful to you too!
